Globally the number of females in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields is significantly lower than that of men. This is despite the fact that women make up over half of the world’s population. mHub introduced a female developers’ competition to encourage female participation in computer science and technology. The competition is sponsored by a Malawian couple; Lindani and Linda Phiri based out of North Carolina in the United States. Lindani is a software developer with Red Hat Inc whilst Linda is a Medical Doctor.
Girls that are interested to build any technology platforms are encouraged to work in pairs or teams. The hub will offer technical support through guidance and oversight as the competetitors develop their applications. More information can be found at http://www.femaledevelopers.mhubmw.com.
